In this experiential workshop, we will apply theatre techniques and psychodrama to create virtual experiences of safety, belonging & protection. While trauma treatment tends to  focus on “what happened to you”, for many people seeking therapy probably the most relevant issue is: “Who was there for you?” and “Why did nobody notice and protect me?” Many therapists try to provide clients with “corrective emotional experiences” to help them deal with early life deficits. Sadly, that entails the wrong person, in the wrong time at the wrong place.

In this workshop we will collectively observe and practice ways in which our internal maps can be revised through interactive movement, touch, auditory and visual input in three-dimensional space. Our psychodrama techniques based on the work of Albert Pesso, and other theater interventions, to provide participants with a deep experience of creating new inner realities. The techniques are described in detail in Chapter 18 of The Body Keeps the Score.

Participants will be expected to have done their own personal work and be prepared to actively participate in helping to create new realities for fellow workshop members. 

 

Please note that the workshop will be conducted in English. To ensure participants can fully engage with the content and discussions, fluency in English is essential. Additionally, prior experience in therapeutic work is required.
